]]> http://scottrmorris.com/?feed=rss2&p=59 0 Motors are in! http://scottrmorris.com/?p=54 http://scottrmorris.com/?p=54#comments Thu, 13 May 2010 10:55:58 +0000 Scott http://fallwater.com/?p=54 2.2Kw 3PH ER20 spindle came from Shanghai China in 5 days!  This thing is a beast, and weighs around 10-12 lbs.  Nothing fancy with regard to finish but it’s not too bad.  Big discussion here on these Cheap Chinese Spindles on cnc-zone.  Working on redesigning the spindle mount now.  The servos we ordered today from Hui Li at dmm-tech.com and should be here next week from Canada.   Tim and I did some measurements and it looks like I’ll be able to use the same 8mm pulley and axis motor brake on the new 300W z-axis servo.  That saves me a couple hundred dollars!

The used technique is self supporting interlocking of pieces (without gluing, screwing or nailing) of 547 different pieces of polypropylene routed with a three-axis CNC.
